Due to the second Ski-jump-world-championship in 1973 in Oberstdorf the jump was redesigned by Mr. Müller and Mr. Würz Horle. Mr. Sepp Noichl made later profile adjustments. In the year 1981, 1988 and 1998 following Ski-jump-world-championships took place. Roar Ljökelsöy from Norway established the jump record of 223 meters in 2004. The jump can be visit all-the-year. There is a chairlift access from the valley to the jump-off platform. To proceed you take an inclined elevator up to the observation deck. Built in 1925 and retrofit in 1972. The jump record of 143,5 meters was established in 2003 by Sigurd Petersen from Norway. One of the tour champions (only german) the year 1959 was Max Bolkart, a citizen of Oberstdorf. The ski-jump-stadium has four more jumps (100 meter, 60 meter, 30 meter and 19 meter jumps) In the summer mat jumping - in front of a large audience, partly with floodlight - takes place. “There the water of the Breitach boils, booms and whooshes” through the flume with nearly 100 meter high, vertical and overhanging walls. The water rushes over the high shelfs, bubbles through the deep flume and sprays into fine drops in which the light illuminates. Some of the gloomy walls of the flume have never seen the sun. The dark green moss and the delicate fern love the humidity and some spruces are growing on the shelfs. Since 1905 the Breitachklamm has been made available as a trail. Encouraged by their reverend Johannes Schiebel was it a remarkable undertaking for the Tiefenbach citizen to build a trail where you can walk on. Except during the snowmelt and in the late autumn you can walk on the trail all-the-year. For those who have been in the flume in the summer should see it in the winter. Huge icicles give you the feeling that you are in an ice palace. On 26.400 sqm the visitors can find three halls with a total of 4.500 sqm of frozen surface.

As in the past, they hope all animals will return unharmed, for it is only then that the best-looking cow is entitled to wear the ornate head-dress. One marvels at the all-round soundness they acquired from the rich grass of the Alpine meadows and ponders over the time gone by and the time to come. It is then that 13 men in fearful disguises drive away the evil mountain spirits while they perform their special dance. Only members of the old Oberstdorf family generations are allowed to take part in this ritual and each one must collect the fir sprigs for the costume from the forest himself. Then they rehearse the traditional dancing figures for months on end. When, at last, the time has come, the men start to sway to the ever-recurring melody and then, after a while they stamp their feet louder and louder until the chills run up and down the spines of even the spectators in the back rows. Every year in the early summer do the farmers send the young cattle into the summer resort, the mountains.

They stay there for approximately 100 days, where the air does not smell like gas and the grass would get through the technical inspection agency without any lead content -if something like this would exists. Dairymaids do not exist in the Allgäu, instead you can find alpine herdsmen which take care of the cattle. The alpine meadows of the Allgäu and their herdsmen enjoy a good reputation because year after year does even the season-guest-cattle from the lowlands stay on the Oberstdorfer alps for rest. Walking dignified through the summer with big and small cowbells around their necks, do they delight the vacationists heart and calm down some disquietingly souls. When the pasture time comes to an end in September and if nothing happened to the animals - what the herdmens, St. Wendelin and St. Rochus try to avoid - is it time for the big event days: the Oberstdorfer and Schöllanger Viehscheid. Ahead goes the alpine herdsman with his beautiful wreath-cattle, followed by the herd. The wreath-cattle is the most beautiful animal which is decorated with a large girdle of flowers, twigs and ribbons, which is a true glory. The bell around the neck is in no way inferior in greatness and beauty to the wreath. All this does the Allgäuer cattle carry in a stoical manner to the valley, to the pride of the herdmens and to the delight of the spa guests. The word Viehscheid means, that the cattle gets separated on a big place: each cattle goes back to its owner. Here takes place a true fair with music for brass instruments, a sausage stand, and lots, lots of beer! The Allgäuer brown cattle is the hallmark of our land. It is healthy and beautiful, has character and according to its social position recognized liberties. This should be considered by everyone, when all of a sudden you are encircled in your car by tails, horns and serious cow faces.
