Mask obligation in Bavaria

Since July 2, 2022 it is sufficient to wear a "medical mask" in all public transportations.

At infrastructures with vulnerable groups of persons (e.g. medical practices, hospitals, caring institutions etc..) being cared about at least a medical mask has to be worn.

Please consider the fact that some services and touristic infrastructures still use their hygiene and protection concept and can make use of the mask duty (domiciliary rights). We recommend you to have a medical mask or "FFP2 mask" with you at any time.

Do children also have to wear a mask?

Kids up to their 6th birthday do not have to wear a mask.
Children between 6 and 16 years have to wear a medical mask, where asked for.

Which groups of persons are exempted from the obligation?

- Kids up to their 6th birthday
- persons who cannot wear a mask due to disability or for health reasons and if they can show a proof on site.
As a matter of proof in detail you can show a medical certificate (original), giving your full name, date of birth and detaild information about the reason for the liberation of the mask duty.
Also, the mask can be taken off for identification reasons or for the communication with disabled persons (hearing impairment).
As before, the health and safety regulations also apply to employees.
